REB Official Announcement for Students, Teachers and Parents,Supporting students who did not meet promotion requirements in phasing-out subject combinations
Reference is made to the letter No NESA/EMU/700/2026 from the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) informing schools about the supplementary examinations for Senior 5 students who did not meet the requirements for promotion to Senior 6.
The supplementary examinations are scheduled to take place from 31 August to 4 September 2026. The examinations will provide the concerned students with an opportunity to meet the required promotion standards and proceed to the next level of their education.
In order to support these students to adequately prepare for and succeed in the supplementary examinations, the Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) requests all schools to provide targeted academic support to the concerned students during the week of 24–29 August 2026.
Day schools are required to communicate with all concerned students and request them to report to school for guided and supported learning. Boarding schools should also communicate with the concerned students and facilitate their return to school to benefit from the necessary academic support.
Schools are required to ensure that, throughout the week of 24–29 August 2026, the concerned students are supported by teachers and school leaders through focused revision, guidance, and other appropriate learning activities to help them prepare effectively for the supplementary examinations. All necessary arrangements, including the organization and facilitation of the learning sessions, should be made by the respective schools.
We appreciate your continued commitment and support in ensuring that these students are adequately prepared for the supplementary examinations and are given every opportunity to succeed.
